Our Staff
At San Mateo Orthodontics our friendly, capable staff is extremely dedicated in the delivery of orthodontic care to our patients. We are here to help you, the patient and parents, have an enjoyable experience with your orthodontic treatment. We strive to be considerate of your time through efficient scheduling and the use of the latest technology in orthodontic appliances and materials.
Our Orthodontic Assistants are graduates from the College of San Mateo Dental Assisting Program with a combined 18 years of experience. They are Licensed Registered Dental Assistants.
Our Treatment Coordinators have extensive experience helping patients and parents with their insurance and financial matters. They will assist you in scheduling your orthodontic appointments so your treatment progresses as quickly and conveniently as possible.
Adrian Vogt D.D.S., M.S.D.
Education:
Dr. Vogt grew up in Hong Kong and has lived in England and Canada as well. He spent many summers teaching orthodontics in Germany, and has taught at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco since 1994. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacology and toxicology from Western Ontario University in 1988, he completed his dental and orthodontic training at the University of the Pacific. Dr. Vogt has been a devoted orthodontist for over 15 years and has owned this practice since 1998. A strong desire to treat patients in the most efficient, research-based manner has led to a strong reputation for quality work delivered with honesty and integrity.
Dr. Vogt's professional affiliations include the Angle Society (only a select group of orthodontists are invited to join this organization that regularly meets to discuss current orthodontic topics), Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontists (Board Certified), an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, California Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Mateo Dental Society and Invisalign Premiere Provider.
Family & Hobbies:
Dr. Vogt enjoys spending time with his wife Cindy and twelve-year-old daughter Addison. He loves traveling and is an avid outdoorsman, recently hiking to the top of Mount Shasta. He loves hunting and fishing and has been on several such trips, including a week fishing for salmon in Alaska. He is also a "weekend warrior" on the ice, playing in two hockey leagues (of course wearing a mouth guard at all times!) Dr. Vogt and his family live in San Mateo with their Golden Retriever, Brinkley.
Dr. Tom Ellerhorst D.D.S., M.S.D.
Education:
Dr. Tom Ellerhorst, aka "Dr. Tom", grew up in San Mateo, attending Junipero Serra High School, where he was selected Valedictorian and Varsity Soccer Blanket Award winner. He studied at the University of San Francisco graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry. He earned his Dental and Masters degree at the University of the Pacific, in San Francisco.
Dr. Tom is a second-generation dentist following in the footsteps of both his mother (Dr. Ann Marie Silvestri) and father (Dr. Thomas Ellerhorst). He joined our team in June of 2004 and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontists (Board Certified), an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, San Mateo County Dental Society, California Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, California Dental Association and Invisalign Premiere Provider.
Dr. Tom had the opportunity to aid in the repair and rehabilitation of over 175 children born with cleft lip and/or palate in Guatemala and found that volunteer mission to be the most humbling and rewarding experience of his life. He continues to help those in need, performing free dental screenings for the County of San Mateo. Continuing education is also a very important aspect of Tom's professional life, including the 2-week Tweed Course, widely considered one of the most intense orthodontic courses given today.
Family & Hobbies:
Dr. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Kacie, and currently lives in Redwood City, playing basketball whenever he gets the chance -- which is not as often as he'd like, as his children, Kaylee and Connor, keep him constantly on the run. He loves coaching soccer and T-ball and is an avid videogame player. He also loves going to the movies (almost anything with Adam Sandler) and spending time with his family and friends.
Office Staff:
Jenny Young -- Treatment Coordinator
Jenny, a graduate of Andon Dental School, has enjoyed working in the dental field for more than 15 years and has been a member of our orthodontic team since 2004. She is an insurance specialist and has also spent time assisting the doctors in caring for patients. Her upbeat, jovial demeanor promotes a relaxed, positive setting in our waiting room. When not spending time with her 2 children, she can be found swimming (recently completed the Escape From Alcatraz swim), biking, sailing or training for her next half marathon.
Kathy Hammel -- Treatment Coordinator
Kathy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of San Francisco working in the nursing profession for 11 years. She joined the San Mateo Orthodontic Group in 2001. She has two children: her son, Brian, is majoring in business at the University of Notre Dame and her daughter, Michelle, is a psychology major at Loyola Marymount University. Kathy and her husband, Jack, reside in San Mateo with their beloved Bassett Hound, Baxter. They enjoy traveling, whale watching, and their children!!! With Kathy, you can always count on a warm welcome and genuine interest in the well being of our patients and their families.
Jenny Grado, RDA -- Assistant
Jenny is a graduate of Westmoor High School and the College of San Mateo Dental Assisting program. Jenny first joined the practice in 1998 and has been a valuable component ever since. Her sense of humor and excellent rapport with our patients helps to make a visit to the orthodontist an enjoyable experience. When she is not working, or furthering her education at night school, she loves spending time at the beach with her dog, Charlie, and at home with family, friends and her 3 cats.
Ana Cabeza, RDA -- Assistant
Ana is a graduate of San Mateo High School and the College of San Mateo Dental Assisting program. She is bilingual in Spanish and English and has been an integral member of our team since 2005. Her hard work and ever-present smile make working with her very enjoyable. Ana is a dedicated mother to her 3 daughters, and loves spending time with her extended family as well.
Meghan Harvey -- Assistant
Meghan is our newest member. After graduating from Terra Nova High School, she joined our office in 2008. She is currently taking nursing pre-requisite courses at a local junior college. Her outgoing personality and enthusiasm are a constant in the office. Meghan's compassionate nature is truly evident in the care she provides our patients. She loves country music (as well as Britney Spears) and enjoys going to concerts.
